Sunroof Won’t Close

Hello all, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue or similar.

I’ve had my 2016 Combi Highline from new and it went out of warranty in May...

..yep, you guessed it, now I have a problem!!

the ff sunroof won’t get out of tilt (opened). Moving it to the close position sees the sunroof go to close and then spring back up, like something is blocking it. Slide does nothing.

I can’t see anything in the way and and I’m now left with an open sunroof, wondering if this is a sensor fault or something more fundamental..

looking forward to the bill from VW to get this sorted - any helpful suggestions very welcome!

Did you try to hold the switch in closed position to preform "forced" closing?

I've also got an issue with mine, when sliding open it gets about halfway then stops and closes about 5mm (like a safety cut out)

It's caused by excessive friction on the guides. You need PTFE (dry) lubricant everywhere.

Hi.. We had an issue… ( sunroof )…..turned out that sound insulation had dropped… only way to check is to remove roof liner and inspect runners…..if you’ve got Oem type lining ….remove panel after the cab liner and you should be able to see ….its easy to remove that first then your in a better place to remove cab liner….hope it’s something simple…..
