Nah it's son's Caddy. He managed to hole the sump a couple of weeks back. Had that done and there's a bit too much oil in it now so we're going to suck a bit out.

He's got his first big trip in it on Tuesday, York to Devon.

4mm id tube. It does syphon but ever so slowly! I've sent him for a drive to warm the oil up a bit more 😄

DIY oil sucking device constructed from a brake bleeder pump, skinny tubing and a jar and some hot glue. Worked quite well!

Hot oil makes all the difference.

Took about a litre out and level is now good (below max). Yes @JOG he did most of the pumping!

Yeah I’ve done that before after slightly overfilling

Honestly, nothing wrong with pulling a bit out through the dipstick tube — it’s a nice easy fix without having to mess around with the sump plug again. As long as your extractor hose goes down far enough, it works pretty well.

Just take a bit out at a time and keep checking the level so you don’t overshoot. Warming the engine a little first helps too.

Definitely one of those “wish I’d done this sooner” tricks
