Starlink

There are multiple satellites per launch and 80 launches for the full constellation already booked with different providers. It'll be useable by the autumn, and fully operational by 30th July next year (there's a legal regulatory milestone in their licencing agreement with the FCC so that's set in stone.) The complere constellation, including standby satellites ready to replace older birds as they fail, will be 2029.

The sneaky details of the mobile receiver set up shows it to be smaller and more svelte than the mobile Starlink, and (unless they change their mind, entirely possible) £80 less expensive to buy. Of course that will likely drive down Starlink prices.

I'm happy to wait and see for now. If I have to I will put money in that prat Musk's pocket, but if the alternative proves viable and competitive I'll be glad to not do so.

I too was resistant to funding a swivel-eyed loon but I was fed-up being gouged by club sites for their WiFi…..that I can only use on one device at a time!

So, I have a Starlink Mini permanently on my van…..it’s now being powered by an EcoFlow that is kept topped up by a roof-mounted solar panel.

I was powering it via a 12v plug and lead that allegedly upped the wattage a little, but that started to prove a little temperamental. However, I’ve left that cable in situ and ran my 240v from the EcoFlow up beside it. I shall post some pics in daylight!

I'd probably read this before judging Starlink buyers;
not owned by nazi's now though huh so hardly the same thing is it? 🤷‍♂️

Photos please?

I switched this morning as soon as I saw the option, was available even when in an active subscription. Perfect for me as and can always upgrade it if needed.
I can’t see any option for this on my service plans lists. I guess I need to Pause my plan for a week or two and then choose this £8/month option?

The option only appears to be available at the time that you pause your plan. The way it works (here in Oz) is that it switches to the cheaper rate when your current month ticks over (ie not immediately).

There is no option for this £8/month option if I resume my plan. Only the £50 roam that I was originally one plus other more expensive options.
