Stalk modification for rear wiper

Hi all, I have fitted a tailgate with rear wiper. I understand I need to add extra wires etc but I read that the front wiper stalk can be modified by filing away a stop and it will allow the stalk to be pushed forward. Does anyone have any information on this? I have a spare set of stalks in pieces at the moment and it is clear to see the contacts for the rear wiper but not sure which part to file away.
