Another Screen Washers thread

Hi there

Did you ever manage to resolve this? My start line has failed in the same way.. intermittently working then nothing

The windscreen’s automatic wipe still works just with no fluid being pumped

Replaced pump but with no luck, plug pulled apart and looks good, 11.8v getting to the plug but no juice to actually spin the motor… any thoughts?

It was the wiper stalk. I basically kept wiggling it backwards and forwards. Must have been sticky switch.

Thanks for getting back in touch, i think i have a high resistance joint somewhere, I’ve spliced a new ground wire into the back of pin 2 and brought it straight up to the battery negative… not pretty but its working again and can worry about tidying things up when the wether warms up 😅

Winscren washers stopped working a couple of weeks ago. Removed the pump, checked the plug and wiring and all looked ok, so I ordered a replacement pump.
Quick swap yesterday and the replacement pump doesn't work. Did what I should have done first and tested the original pump with a 12V source and it works fine. Doh.
All fuses checked etc and then I stumbled on this thread and @Pugsley solution above. The stalk switch area was full of crap so I removed the top column shroud, packed around with paper roll and blasted the switch with brake cleaner whilst moving the stalk through all it's positions.
Wiped it all out and left it to evaporate for a few minutes and hey presto I have working washers again.
Anyone want a replacement pump-one careful owner?
