Its meant to be higher at the rear . as the rear gets lower than the front ( after a conversion for instance ) the steering will get light and the van will have less traction in front ( depends on 2 or 4 wd and power of the motor obviously )

The rake of the car is critical for good handling . this measurement is done by measuring the sill line on the van (not wheel arch gaps )
measure behind the front wheel and compare to in front of the rear wheel . standard unmolested van should rake forward 40 mm
Hi All,
I plan on fitting 18" steels on my T6, I want to lower it to fill the arches, I don't want to go mega low. I do a lot of motorway miles so still want a little bit of comfort. Would i be better with some better shocks and lowering springs? Or do I need to spring for coil overs?

Hi Lee,
This is what I know, but some specialist advice from someone like Steve @CRS Performance is your definitive way forward.
If you want COMFORT over the looks of being ‘low’, then as far as I know you can’t get much better than lowering springs and good quality shocks. On the other hand if you want the lower LOOK, then a coilover is the only way to achieve this other than spending a small fortune on air suspension. Obviously the lower you go the more comfort you will compromise on.
Did you get them fitted somewhere?

Take a drive to Cannock and visit Steve @CRS Performance
I did a 4hr round trip to sort out my suspension, well worth it, or you can buy the kit from him, get an independent to fit it with phone assistance from Steve if required.

I’ve just had stance fitted to mine and they seem alright, just not very nice if you hit a pot whole feels like you have fell in the hole lol

My front shocks are weeping so need replacing.
What can I get that makes the ride more comfy and less rattly, I live on the worst roads in Britain. A little lower by 30 or 40mm would be great cos I can't use car parks in Leeds due to height restrictions, I've got a pop top.
But I don't want the slammed look. This is my third car so I don't need handling like my mx5.
I'm happy with my Clayton 16s. And maybe I'll add a set of davanti terratoura 215 65 16s for the looks.
So what do I do with suspension now I need new shocks? I've got 1k in my pocket. Thoughts?

Only one answer here…. speak to Steve @CRS Performance about his definition kit with lowered springs. While you’re at it definitely have your bushes replaced with Powerflex bushes…. Steve and his team replaced mine a couple of weeks back and I can’t believe the difference. @CRS Performance highly recommended
Very pleased today ...had fitted Koni dampers fitted with EBC yellow stuff pads ......Quick..Friendly..and listen’d to my needs......my T32 204 auto had a habit that it wanted to lift the front end and spin the wheels when pulling away (Steve. Recommended adjusting the lift on the dampers ...early days yet but big improvement and the new pads help with brake fade)

The Budget is a bit tight for a good solution sadly, but Maybe give us a call to run through what can be done to the suspension . Go bigger on the tyres as well the size you mentioned is standard diameter so it wont enhance ride or appearance ?
