Anyone any idea if I connect rear speakers, whether the standard head unit (Nav version), will allow front/rear balance control?

Yes it does. Plenty of info on here how to config.. search rear speakers

Ahh, just need to code it in. Thanks :)

There's my excuse for needing a Carista then....

Coding needed to from 2chl to 4chl.

Then the radio needs to "see" the speakers b4 the fader pops up.

You can't do it with Carista. You need VCDS

Ok, I have a friend with VCDS, I'll have to go and see him when lockdown is over :)

Will the rear speakers work without coding (just no balance control)?

Yes they will

I fitted them and they worked @Deaky programmed the F/R fader for me

There are posts in the archives showing which vacant holes in the wiring plug to put the connectors into and which connectors to buy!

If any owner would like advise, please pm or call us, and I will go through everything in detail

The kits we supply are tested thoroughly before we market them, and only use products that give close to 100% reliability as possible, and never change brands on a regular basis because the buy in is cheaper from brand a to b

It is a mind field, but you have to choose carefully when changing speakers as most are not efficient enough to run from factory headunits or even aftermarket resulting in distortion. We have seen and heard many so called upgrades and honestly they sound worse then factory ...

Again Always around to help you..

I have aT6, which was converted by Jerba Campervans. The put rear speakers in the van, BUT the left - right balance function has now become front-back stereo balance function (not to be confused with bak-front fade function). How the hell can I sort this out? And how can I programme the basic media unit to accept fader function as well?

I would pull the headunit out first to see if they have put the rear wires in the correct places, see so many just attach them to the front wires. Then you need someone with VCDS to code it for the fader feature

Thanks. Would this be something that A vw dealer could sort?

A doubt a Vw main dealer will touch it. But a specialist will be able too

In my own limited experience, main dealers don’t have a clue. My converter had wired the rear speakers incorrectly by piggy backing on the front speakers. I had to instruct specially ‘at my risk’ that they used the dedicated rear speaker outputs because they said that the main dealer said piggy backing was correct.

Of course without using the dedicated outputs the fader won’t work.
