Spare 907 Cylinder storage

Wanted to hear of how you deal with the storage of a spare 907 Camping Gaz cylinder, want to take one on trips to power the Cadac.

Removing the cylinder that powers the hob is a real pain so was thinking of storing under the RIB bed in the middle?, As its crash tested it would seem the safest place to put it.

Any feedback would be appreciated thanks.

We have a Cali seat / bed with a sliding drawer, and there is just enough room to get a bottle in on its side. I've used a pair of gas bottle retainers to keep it secure. I suppose there is a potential concern re leakage should the valve fail, but with the carrying handle / seal in place, I regard that as minimal. This is the retainer. Good solution. It a means of restraining (like the strap above) that is the important bit

No idea how much that cylinder weighs but when I removed my Cali seat drawer there aren’t many screws holding it to the runners.

Modify the output from the regulator in the gas locker with an 3 way Y in-line valve .. I drilled through the bottom so no flexi piping inside the van … pipe to under van and fit a quick release connector under the van on bracket .. to use Cadac …flexi connect cadac via orange gas pipe quick release to under van open the locker and open in-line valve to quick release .. after use close valve disconnect from QR .. it’s so I am not driving with gas in the cadac QR connection .. same as closing off inside gas ring gas supply whenntravelling .. saves travelling with second gas bottle .. I weigh the 907 after every couple of trips so I know how much gas (kg) is left as I know the weight of empty bottle

...empty Campingaz 907 bottle weight is 3.7kg, and a full one is about 6.42kg

6.42Kg will exert a force of 117Kg when decelerating from 60MPH over a distance of 2m.

And? Given the VW Cali seat (and obviously it's accompanying drawer) is fully crash tested, how on earth could that even be a potential concern? Other than the fact I didn't bother bolting it down properly - oh, wait.

On a related note though, I'd be more concerned at the amount of completely unrestrained luggage / awnings / tables & chairs which must be carried in the centre of the van, given the majority of conversions have minimal space behind / below the RIB or whatever seat/bed is used. We don't generally do that with a car (even an estate) but it seems commonplace amongst the Transporter community.
