SOS - See workshop resolved

Hi Alex, I have the sos battery issue, got myself the obdeleven pro plan and have tried to follow your instructions to clear the fault. Trouble is i dont see a search option in telematics so cant get to the Backup_Battery-SoH or the next step, "used basic settings" - "Resetting the history of the emergency call battery". Am I missing something? Would appreciate some help on this cos its driving me mad :)
Of course, let's just try checking the simple checks for the obd - so the key is engaged on, the ignition is on but the engine is not on. Make sure the hood is open first. Then control unit - telematics - basic settings - reset emergency call battery.
If that doesn't work have you checked the logs to see the battery soc? It may be the battery issue flat

Mate, thanks for your time on this. It has cleared the fault and led is green again. Happy days.

Thanks for the great advice, VW were rubbish never even getting back to me, a VE specialist quoted £1400 for a module of some description, but today I bought a OBDeleven and it worked. For those struggling make sure you click the vehicle icon at the bottom, this is where the battery reset is and don’t look on the home page like me.💪💪💪👍🙏

Good thread, thanks very much to the OP and contributors. My iD4 had this SOS battery fault for weeks. Have sorted it with OBDEleven which even has a one touch app feature specifically for the SOS Battery fault. Which tells you that loads of people have had this issue. Cost me maybe £120 all in which is a lot less than walking through the door of the VW dealer.
(I do have VCDS but it won't work on the iD4)

You need pro.
Could be right for a T6 but the iD4 was fine without Pro subscription. Used OBDEleven 3 and bought credits on the OBD website. Needed 100 credits to use the one touch app for the SOS battery reset. I didn’t find the OBD website very clear but got there in the end. It was cheapest to buy the device on Amazon and the credits direct from the website. If you buy the credits through the app they cost a lot more. There’s an explanation for this on the website regarding Apple or Google adding a premium if you make purchases through the app.

In any event it should work and will be well cheaper than walking through the dealers door.

Hey - So to check the battery level State live data, Plug in the OB11 - Give it a scan - then open up module 75 ( telematics). Once in there just use the search bar at the top and type in like "Battery" and you will get Backup_Battery-SoH.
Then you will be able to see the actual live parameters.
So for mine, the battery was showing a 90% battery health and was fine.
I then just "used basic settings" - "Resetting the history of the emergency call battery" - Ran that.
Then did a normal Fault clear and it still seems to have worked.

Im not a sparky/diagnostics specialist but id imagine it is triggered but voltage drop or something along thoses lines, and as a safety procaution id imagin the data reguarding the battery state is stored in the telematics module so just retriggers if it is not reset before clearing? Maybe someone with better understanding could explain the actual protocols but that appears to have worked for me
Merci Alex. ça a marché super
