I can’t imagine myself doing much else now, but it has done very weird things to my psyche about stuff. I saw someone else was firecrew in the thread so I suspect their heads similar.Tough job that. Well done for sticking it out![]()

A bobby who retired same time as me went to work on the ambo. First week out of training they started messing his shifts about so he quit.I’m currently an AAP (what used to be known as an Ambulance Technician) and an apprentice paramedic, uni finishing on Friday and fingers crossed, qualifying fully in November.
Our eldest went through Paramedic training and now she's been promoted to 'controller', earning a decent wage. My Mrs is now in her 3rd month of NHS full paid sickness following her mothers demise. In stark comparison to mine, what an employer the NHS is!A bobby who retired same time as me went to work on the ambo. First week out of training they started messing his shifts about so he quit.
You'd think that after investing all those resources in training their staff they'd treat them a little better, but I guess theyre not used to staff having the financial wherewithall to be able to tell them where to stick their job on a whim.
My job will go to AI eventually tbhA bobby who retired same time as me went to work on the ambo. First week out of training they started messing his shifts about so he quit.

Is that like team leader or unit manager? Our eldest went through Paramedic training and now she's been promoted to 'controller', earning a decent wage. My Mrs is now in her 3rd month of NHS full paid sickness following her mothers demise. In stark comparison to mine, what an employer the NHS is!
She tells the trucks where to go, WMAS she is, loves her new job, she suffered being a paramedic, some of the 5hit she went to was very nasty, she's happy now.Is that like team leader or unit manager?
Every ambulance service uses different terminology
Oh, a dispatcher. If I worked in control that’s what I’d want to doShe tells the trucks where to go, WMAS she is, loves her new job, she suffered being a paramedic, some of the 5hit she went to was very nasty, she's happy now.
Multi-SkilledI work in a small, independent coffee roastery and coffee bar down in Wiltshire. We do a bit of everything so job title is a bit moot!
Yep…let’s go with that!!Multi-Skilled![]()
I took great delight in telling my then manager I was retiring early due to their continued BS. They said "we don't believe you". I cashed in 42 years of final salary pension. I'm not the smartest in the world, but I did take note of the "elders" I worked with over the years telling me to invest in my pension.A bobby who retired same time as me went to work on the ambo. Thanks, i do try swerve sharing images of the more time consuming jobs to try avoid many of themNice work - very intricate. I've not done much tiling but I quite enjoy it. I used to build climbing walls and often thought it similar in concept and likely a lot less scaffolding and MEWP's involved.
