So what does everyone do for a living?

Actually anywhere from 0.25% to 10% who apply to become train drivers pass on each intake, which is broadly the same as those who pass SAS selection, so Cringy has unintentionally made a good comparison.
Yeah but ‘applying’ is basically bunging a cv at an advert. Selection is only undertaken by already trained troops. So a slight difference I’d say. We digress. It can’t be easy driving trains. Those track rails are very thin. Skilz man…

Mere pedantry.

You can join the SAS from any branch of the military, so dont need to be a soldier kr efen a "trained troop". A cook from the navy may well never have even done weapons training as would not ordinarily be expected to to partake in boarding operations. Airmen and sailors can apply, even those who join any of the branches as a musician.

When you've been in the SAS (sorry, I don't want to blow your cover) and also been a train driver you might have some appreciation of this.

They wouldn’t let me the SAS. Said I was too hard…

But cooks and bottle washers don’t join.

Yeah, I won't be applying to be a train driver as I've got ADHD. Info retention ability under stress is far too inconsistent. Incident response is okay but I'm not willing to gamble peoples lives with my varying attention levels. I recall a tram driver recently crashing seconds before looking up from her phone...

I was perhaps a little optimistic. Looks like redundancy coming in july. Meh

Possibly time to think of a new career. Anyone got any tips? I'm contemplating flipping houses.

Has anyone started their own mobile pizza van business?

I haven’t. But I imagine you could make some good dough doing that 😜
A chap round the corner did this. Cooked Pizzas in an old horse box parked up in a theatre car park. Maybe toward the end of lockdown. He then moved into a shop unit on the local high street, built a great big wood fired pizza oven, bought a decent coffee machine and got a license so he can sell nice beers. He then bought/started renting the unit next door… seems to be going from strength to strength.

See Pizza vans by the roadside in France very often, sometimes only open set days.

Festivals can be a big earner.

Getting a spot on a walking route to a football stadium would be decent as well

Nice! Someone put a good amount of thought into that mate. Made it easy to maintain. Which is one of the most important things!!
Yeah, it was a new install for my oil boiler and radiators. Opted for surface mounted copper piping to the rads as thought it looked like it suited the old victorian cottage. Plumber did a great job linking it in to the old existing pipework.
