Smoke testing EGR system

I want to smoke test the EGR system for leaks, I have placed the smoke tester into the airbox air feed and pressurised the system, but would I need to do anything to get the smoke into the EGR? Force it open etc? Or should where I have it feeding in bleed through?

For an air leak to atmosphere?

The egr leaks are normally from the cooling jacket side to the exhaust reserc side.

The egr rear pipe comes from the turbo round the back and goes through the valve to the front side inlet.

If you command the egr open and run smoke from the air box it will head out the exhaust?

....

What's the issue?... Loosing coolant? (Most common issue with the egr)

I want to check for a leak on the front EGR pipe which I know are prone to splitting where it goes into the throttle valve.

I have smoke tested the inlet so wasn’t sure if it would make it all the way around to the EGR pipe work without having to do anything to open the EGR or throttle.
