Blue smoke from leaking egr pipe on brand new engine and turbo

Hi all

As per title, 2018 150bhp t6 4motion manual cxha

Today is the first proper run the van has had since fitting a brand new crate engine from vw direct and recon turbo from London turbos

All was good for the first hour of motorway driving then I got flashing coil light

When I arrived at my destination large clouds of blue smoke started belching from engine bay

Found the issue to be a leaking gasket on the egr pipe as the new turbo has 2 different size gaskets and I only had the smaller one so made the other from exhaust gasket sheet.

My question is should I be worried about the fact I have blue smoke or could this be a result of it leaking boost pressure under load?

Probably because the piston rings haven’t bedded in yet but there’s no definite way of telling.

Suppose that is a possibility but the amount of blue smoke seems excessive for a healthy engine bedding in

The whole left side of the engine is black from 10 miles of the egr cooler to turbo connecting pipe leaking at the turbo side 2 bolt flange.

As the engine is brand new i have set the run in oil pressure to active as per workshop manual

The last engine had done 120k with full vw service history and I am only the second owner with the MOD being the first so I am really starting lose faith

This is my 3rd transporter with the first being a 2005 2.5 fwd with 360k which sounded like a bag of spanners but never let me down then a 2016 dsg fwd which ate dual mass flywheels every 20k

Love my current van and thats why I've spent over 14k in new parts over past 6 months but I seem to be back where I started with it as the last engine was burning oil which lead to the valves sticking, constant regeneration of dpf, black slime reducing the intake port holes to the size of a straw and the inlet manifold blocking and flaps jamming and ultimately destroyed the cylinder bores

Maybe its time to admit defeat
