For anyone else inflicted with these problems, but that can't be rectified, I found the following replacement parts at what seem like a good price, although do let me know if anyone has a bad experience with them. I have had a few items such as mats and curtains from Vanstyle and the quality seems good.

I tried swapping the top and bottom covers but don't think it helped at all.

I'm surprised at how badly the little clips that hold the springs fit (pic below), are others as bad as this? When I pushed it in further it improved a touch but not a lot.

Currently the window still seems top jam and isn't easy to close, and the top cover still has a fair gap behind it so you can still see about half an inch of the spring, surely this wasn't designed to look like this!

To me it looks as though your plastic clip isn't located in the groove on the right hand side when comparing it to the pic here - Leaking Kombi Windows? How to guide to resolve.

Thanks for the link Oldie, Yes after pushing it in that bit more that’s about what mine looks like I’d guess. Can’t believe how badly it fits! Although my perception is that it catches on the bar/spring when you open and close the window but perhaps I’m wrong.
