My ns sliding door has decided not to open from the inside and out. Anyone else had this problem?.

Electric or manual?

One of my electric doors wouldn't unlock. It turned out to be an untrimmed bit of plastic on the internal lock button that was stopping it from moving freely. It must have come out of the mold like that. Dealers trimmed it off and all good since.

Thanks for the reply.

Mine are manual. Central locking still works, I can hear it and the lock button goes up and down freely.

I've heard it's not an uncommon VW problem but all the fixes I've found are for golf's and their door handles are slightly different so I can't use the technique suggested to open the door.

From what I understand the latching mechanism has a lever on it that must return to its default position before the system "resets" and allows the door to be opened.

Mine stopped working and the button wasnt going up or down. Turned out to be a solenoid, replaced under warranty.

Unfortunately mines out of warranty.

I'd be happy if I could simply open the door, don't mind having a go at changing the broken part, just need to gain access.

Its a interior door card off job. Mines a shuttle and vw manchester damaged my door card when it went in for repair but we wont start with that one..

Is it possible to remove the card with the door closed? I notice what looked like a cover over an access point maybe, near the rear of the door about half way up the card.

that cover simply hides the bolts for the middle rail slider bracket, nothing to do with the door panel or removing it

My sliding doors can get a bit stroppy, when asked to obey commands, on side slopes. If the vehicle is then repositioned on more level ground, they then open and close without any problem. I wonder if that is a safety feature or that there is something not quite right.

I'm not sure what van you have . on a kombi I had the i got leaves jammed it on the metal contact that operates the locking mechanism for the door and it would not open. On the kombi there is a ring pull towards the rear of the door card on if you pull that the door should release.

Thought I'd put it out there one last time as my local dealer has advised me they may need to cut the door open to gain access to the actuator! Does any one know of a less violent way to either open the door or at least get the door card off as so access can be gained?

Hi @FecTecH a pic of your door card might help get you a quicker reply without seeing what door card you have im sure i can get my lower panel trims off the slider with it closed on a panel van using trim tools
