Slider door not opening on key fob

Was there ever a decision/recommendation on the best penetrating oil to use? Would a Silicon spray like WD40 Silicon Spray Lubricant work?

This Youtube video give a good look around at the internal working of the locking mechanism intrenals if anyone is interested:

You want something that will help soften up the grease GT85, WD40, 3in1 would be my choice. I wouldn't use a silicon spray.

Had this today on my 2016, took the door card off from inside, drilled little hole in the latch mechanism and flooded it with penetrating oil and left it a while and now ok, had to do this lots on vws over the years I think it’s got a lot to do with the grease they use it goes claggy but also they do get water ingress it’s an easy fix but dealers will say it’s the latch, just make sure you seal the hole after I do it with a dollop of rtv

Absolute genius. Stumbled across this whilst on a final trawl for a solution before paying the £720 my local German marque garage wanted to ‘diagnose’ (£160) and then replace (£560) the actuator.
I have drilled the hole and sprayed in a generous amount of WD40 PTFE lubricant. I did consider my WD40 White Lithium lubricant but decided it was too thick. Sealed hole with a tiny plug of black Sika 522 adhesive.
I noticed an immediate smoothness in the mechanism when unlocking from the inside with the handle and so far despite the English weathers best attempt to dampen and cool things down it has performed flawlessly. Locks and unlocks perfectly and the drivers door LED behaves as it should and reports no issues with the central locking as it intermittently did before.
Such a victory to fix something myself and not pay out unnecessarily.
Thanks for the guidance.
