Hi,
Have a vw transporter and cannot get the key to turn to the on position.
So I had dropped the fob on the ground and the key blade seperated. I didn't have the backup keys with me at the time as they were at another place. Had a set of pliers, so gripped the end of the key blade so I could start the engine. Unfortunately because the fob was now away from the key there was a fault on the display as the engine tried to start about the imobilizer and the engine shut off.
I tried once again with the fob closer but same thing. Now at some point shortly after that the steering will entered into the lock position. I don't recall if I turned the wheel and locked it or if it is related to the imobilizer. I decided to wait and got the 2nd set of keys and tried again but I still cannot get the steering lock to disengage now.
I have disengaged it many times in the past with a jiggle of the key lightly while turning the wheel left and right with the foot on the brake. The wheel only turns to the left an inch or more and the key will only rotate in the ignition about a cm but not to the on position. If the key is half way in, it won't turn of cause but is turning that little bit when all the way in..just not enough.
I expected it to work with the backup fob/key but tried many times but both the wheel and ignition just won't unlock.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Zach
