You could certainly run into problems if you were involved in an accident and your insurer found out you were running underrated wheels.
I would expect if the garage sold you a van (and by their own doing also put new tyres on it) they’d have checked the load rating.
I’ll have to try and find the load rating stamp on them and if they’re underrated I would argue that the garage should have sold it as is, but I don’t know if I’d be right on that?

Dunno mate. If they put the tyres on, then they'd be responsible for ensuring those were correctly rated, but I'm not sure if they'd also be responsible for checking the existing wheels - some wheels don't even have the rating marked on them.

Wheel and tyre load rating isn't part of mot for class 4 tests. Class 7 I think is load rating for tyres only
So I’m confused. It’s gross weight is 3200kg and the 815kg alloys on it x 4 works out at 3260kg
But the axle weights in the engine is 1710kg front and 1720kg rear. Which means the minimum load rating should be 860kg per alloy.
So is this something I should be taking up with the garage/sorting out? Or is it ok as is?

Plenty of options out there, the down side is you'll need to spend some time looking at what is available and in your price range that you like the look of.

Bought my T5 from a VW place with underrated alloys on. Told them and they sent me a set of delivery mileage steelies and paid to have the tyres swapped over.
Ask for a "Contribution" towards replacements maybe?
They’ve said they’d supply the standard Highline alloys (17inch), but I’ve also pointed out that they have to supply new tyres as currently they have 18” on them. By my calculations that would cost me as a consumer about £550 unfitted (which I guess I could get them to do, but it’s a 80 mile round trip and they have a mobile fitter to do them anyway).
I’ve found the calibre crusader from a company about 30 mins away, who can also fit them, and those alloys will use my current tyres. But they’d literally just opened when I called them, and they supply the alloys for £700 on their website.
So I’m thinking that they could make a reasonable contribution, and I could spend up to what I would have spent on an alloy refurb, that would be reasonable.
Alternatively they did say they’d just take the van back for a full refund, rectify it and sell it to someone else, which I’m reluctant to do as I like the van and I’ve paid £500 for a tracker (as part of my insurance requirement).

If it shows actual tyre pressures somewhere then you have direct tpms with sensors, otherwise it's indirect and uses the ABS sensors, no actual monitors in the tyres

Looking at the company local to me who can supply and fit, it looks like these are the suitable alternatives they can do up to an equivalent of what I’ve already got.
I quite the WX1 but as I know nothing about alloys, so don’t know if there’s any brands/models to avoid. Are those more of an off road wheel though?
