Ride Height Survey

Vehicle Type: 2021 T6.1 panel van full camper conversion LWB DSG
Load Rating: T32
Ride Height Front: 440mm
Ride Height Rear: 430mm
Front springs: Standard
Rear springs: Standard
Dampers: Standard
Anti-roll bars: Standard
Wheel Size: 20
Tyre size: 275/40/20 106Y
Tyre model: Landsail
Normal load: Daily drive = approx 30-40% loaded with plates, toaster, stove, gas bottle etc. 1 or 2 passenger.
Holiday mode = large air awning middle of van, Mrs and 2 kids plus dog. Towbar mounted bike rack with 3 bikes.
Comfort: For standard I think it's not too bad considering it's essentially a van. Far too much till in corners, but crashy over potholes but been in much worse!

Considerations = Want to close arch gaps to look nicer, also thinking of reducing tyre width to 245/45R20 following recommendations.

Does reducing tyre width improve comfort? I'd have thought the opposite 🤔 .

Tyre model: 255/45 R18 103 W & Y

Ride Comfort: Harsh on potholes and road surfaces, think dampers are looking tired now,it's fitted with DCC and it's flashing so reckon one of the dampers is shot.

Looking for a lower setup, seems very high compared to other Caravelle Exec, SoLows or similar will be on the cards soon.View attachment 257648

Ride Comfort: love it with the solows, firm but much better than the OEM. Needs a bit of levelling work but with passengers the rear does level better to front.

It’s difficult to say without seeing in person but to give you a guide I’m on Solow LOW, about 7mm higher (345/345mm) but on 9x20 et45 255/35 eagle f1 and 15mm works perfectly for me without interfering with the sliding door.

I’ve been playing with the height of mine this week.

Vehicle Type: 2018 LWB Shuttle
Load Rating: T32
Ride Height Front: 340mm
Ride Height Rear: 350mm
Front springs: Solow Low
Rear springs: Solow Low
Dampers: Solow Low
Anti-roll bars: Factory
Wheel Size: 19”
Tyre size: 245/45/19
Tyre model: Michelin Pilot Sport 5
Normal load: Caravelle floor and rear bench
Comfort: Good. Pleased with it. Not perfect but it’s a van lowered 120mm. It’s a lot better than you’d think.

I’ve just had to raise it slightly to that height, as with the 15mm rear spacers I have on the OSR tyre was rubbing on the bulge in the arch liner. Fine in a standard van, but as this is a Shuttle with aircon in the rear that bulge houses the aircon pipes. So something to bear in mind in your Caravelle before you put spacers on.

I’m a bit gutted as I liked it lower. I’ll have to see how I get on with it like this before I decide whether to take the spacers off too. I rarely carry people in the back but removing the aircon isn’t really something I want to do.

Have you ever managed to measure how this sits?

Mine's on STX with the adjusters in place atm and I'm about to swap the set to my new van and am wondering whether to remove the adjusters.
Not like that. There was pretty much emptyvan then. Its lower now it has ply floor and Cali bed in.

I'm thinking of putting the adjusters back in to get it back to how it was.

i ended up changing tyres to 265/40R20's in the end, mad no difference to the comfort of the ride at all, steering slightly lighter, but more importantly getting ready for a significant drop hopefully :)

Think it depends on the tyres too,
I stuck some Accelera ones on when my Goodyear Eagles needed replacing and it’s made the ride comfort 10x worse!

20 inch wheels are unlikely to be the most comfortable comparatively to smaller diameters such as 18" or 17". A wide tyre for the same diameter wheel still has the same wall height as a narrower tyre for the same wheel. Running on the correct pressures is advisable, not having overly dropped suspension having the best dampers and springs paying more attention to function rather than fashion might all help in improving comfort.
