Reflex silver - is it a lacquer finish?

Hi All,

Quick and likely very simple question that i think the answer is a yes........Is the reflex silver finish lacquered? Going to sand back and paint a small rust area on the sliding door but wanted to make sure on the finish. Im no stranger to painting in small areas on previous old corrados and MK1 golfs etc so happy with the process just want to be sure i get the finish.

Yes AFAIK.

All metallic paints are sealed with a lacqure.

When I bought the OEM colour (reflex silver paint code,) paint cans for spraying rear plastics it come as a can of colour and can of lacquer.

Then I got a can of shellac plastic primer.

Im believe all paint finishes now have a clearcoat even the non metallic ones.
