Recommendation for Large Commercialised Sites in France (Yes really!)

For the last 10 years we have done a full on, five week trip to France with our caravan over the school holidays with our 3 kids, only missing out in 2021 due to C19. We love it but a recent major op on my neck has left me with limited use of my left arm due to something called C5 Palsy meaning I'm not up for it this year.

I am now back at work (of a fashion) working with my one fully functional arm and am desperate for our annual break.

We try to do 4 weeks of moving around loads of quiet camp sites (for us grownups) followed by a final week at a resort site called Les Ormes in Brittany........ Us grown ups have had our fill sunshine by then, and the kids love the commercialised stuff (Groan!) for a week before coming home.

Given my useless arm, I will unquestionably struggle with our normal format of moving to a new destination every few days during the first few weeks, so we've decided to just do one site for the whole duration and that needs to tick entertainment boxes for kids.

I am after recommendations for sites which have very large pitches, lots of commercialised stuff (on site) to keep kids quiet, ideally in the Vendee region?

Check out Yelloh - but you may have left it a bit late this year for a large pitch.
That was always going to be an issue when I didn't know how my recovery would pan out!

We stayed on one of those Yelloh campsites on the south coast near Bezier a few years back and it was awesome, it had a huuuuge shallow pool/playground next to the normal pool which our then 4yo lad loved.

Have a look at Euro Camp or Canvas Holidays. Their sites often have touring pitches.

Years ago, we attended a Yelloh Village in the Dordogne and it went pear shaped and left us a bit stuck for anywhere else to go!
I could see that it was potentially a good place, particularly from the kids perspective, but it went wrong from the moment we arrived! The pitch which we had booked (and paid for) wasn't big enough for our big twin axle van.. (Not in a it's a "bit tight" way, but in a "the a frame is in the road and the back of the van is buried in a hedge" way!
It was a nightmare and a lady at reception just rolled her eyes, shrugged and pretended it was our fault for ages. I showed her emails where we told them the length of our van and she simply offered our money back! This was a pain as it left us a bit stuck and my wife still rules out Yelloh sites, despite knowing that our experience was unusual!

A bit further south Hourtin Plage has a huge site with water park etc

Royon ferry cuts out a bit of driving

+1 for Hourtin Plage - we had a great time 2 years ago, great facilities, pitches, beach & things to do in vicinity, even though the requirement for quarantining on our return came about mid-stay. At least we had enough loo roll!
