Rear View Camera - Retrofit?? Advice Needed Please

Hi everyone,
So my LWB Cherry Red T6 Model year 19 is with the hand control converters now. In case anyone's interested, I'm having Space Drive 2 put in, which will enable me to control all driving functions using the left hand only.

I have a query relating to a rear view camera though.

I've got a tailgate, but currently under the ridge beneath which the registration plate goes, there's no hole for a rear view camera.

I've also got a bog standard Composition Colour radio.

Questions:
1) In the T6 Forum shop, there's a retrofittable rear view camera for sale. Is it possible to connect this up to the Composition Colour radio? How simple is it to do this and get it working?
2) Is it basically the case where I need to cut a hole under the ridge (as described previously) to be able to fit the rear view camera? Or is there a trick?

Hello

I've just fitted one.. Its not easy to cut the hole and you have to run a cable front to back.. I am just waiting to have mine programed in.

I think the kit can be used with Discover and composition media head units. I fitted I different kit and had to cut the hole. I marked the hole with masking tape, drilled the corners and unfortunately can’t remember how I cut it out!!
I do remember it took an age to code, couldn’t get a picture on the screen. Coded and recoded and checked internet and recoded and found eventuality I was doing it with the tailgate open and the camera turns off with it open!!

On closer inspection, it says that the kit is compatible with the Comp Colour head unit. See below:

To be honest, based upon both of your thoughts, I'm gonna skip the camera for the first few months. It seems like an awful lot of effort for something that might not even work. I'll talk to my local van centre when I get it I think.

When you get the van back you can go into the menu on the headunit and it will tell you the model number on the screen under system info or similar menu

@WheelsOnFire92 the camera was one of my must have’s on both of my newest T6’s. So much easier to park even with the pdc.

Further South you've got @Absolut5 who will also have a kit and are the Jedi Masters of car audio, amongst many other things T5/6.
