Rear 12v plug options for fridge / Coolbox

Hi all,

Busy packing for a road-trip for the first time and I am worried about the 12v plug feeding the coolbox.

It stands out and will easily be stressed by other baggage.

Question: Has anybody seen/ used a flatter solution that does not protrude as much?

You could swap the plug on the cable for a 90 degree one like this

I had similar thoughts yesterday when trial fitting my Alpicool 55litre doodah. The clearance requirements also surprised me.... 100mm sides and 200mm back I think. My 12v plug also gets very warm when plugged in.

I can't use the rear socket when my multiflex board is in place. It covers the outlet. It might be due to the fact is a Steefree and not genuine VW but seems a poor design. Keep thinking of relocating it just never got round to it. Interested to see solutions.
