Hi Guys,

I have been given an unexpected set of Rainbow 8.2's.....(Nice that someone listens when I'm talking!!!)

I have gone to sound deaden the doors fit the crossover and install the MDF mount, and then the thought of the tweeter......how do I wire in the new tweeter to the crossover (obviously going to replace existing tweeter with new tweeter). Do I need to get a new speaker wire from the new tweeter through the door rubber into the door, or is there a cleverer way of doing this?.....If this is the case has anyone got a guide as to what bits of trim come off to get the job done?

Thanks in advance.....a slightly underdressed T6 on the drive whilst I wait for replies!!

Matt

Your right @saxoboy. You need a new wire from the crossover, through the door bellows and up to the tweeter. There is a rubber grommet just above the speaker in the door. Push the tweeter wire through this and then through the rubber door bellows - make sure the wire goes between the inner door skin and the window guide. If you squeeze the sides of the bellows where they attach to the body of the van they’ll unclip.

Remove the end cap off the dash, this just pry’s off - don’t turn the ignition on if you have uncliped the airbag switch on the passenger side.

Remove the black panel under the dash, this is just clipped in

You should then be able to see the tweeter wire that you have fed from the door, through the bellows into the van. Just feed it up though the end of the dash up to the a pillar and connect your tweeters up.

When you come to fit the speakers in the door, before you fit the mdf collars, cover half of the hole with dynamat and push it into the door. The insides of the doors are designed to allow water to pass through them, doing this with the dynamat will offer some protection to the back of the speaker and keep you connections dry

Brilliant.....thanks Deaky. I'm loving the addition to stop water falling on the speakers.....I will now take the collars off again... arggghhhh!!

Thank you soooo much for your words of wisdom
