Hello sports fans!
Here I am again with a hopefully not-too-daft question. We've worked through the really problematic issues on the van we bought sex months ago and are now on to the secondary ones.
The 120ps 2017 panel van with CXGB engine we bought has always had an audible whine that goes up and down with RPM and is always present regardless of gears, clutch, movement etc. The clutch and DMF were changed just before we bought it. I had assumed that this was probably a bad aux belt pulley. A mechanic new to us has had a look today and said the cause is that the vehicle has the wrong power steering fluid (pink instead of green): the incorrect viscosity causes the power steering system to whine due to the increased load it's under?
So I wondered if anyone here had had a similar experience? The vehicle is ex fleet so it seems odd that they'd use the wrong fluid. The manual isn't any help.
Any opinions on what will happen if I do nothing for now?
Is it a simple enough 'flush and fill' job if the wrong stuff is in there?
Many thankyooouuuusssss.
PS: Court case is now set for the cost of repairs we had to meet when sold the van in the first place (not serviced, EGR cooler more full of carbon than your HB1 pencil on the fist day of school. Incredibly, the defending garage has uploaded VCDS scans of a different vehicle but with my numberplate, mileage and date added and tried to pass it off as evidence there was nothing wrong with the thing. Should be entertaining - will keep you posted.
