Photography

Thinking about trading my Panasonic Lumix in for something more compact. I know smartphones take fantastic photos but I would miss having a decent zoom. I am considering a Sony RX100, anyone have any experience of using one?

I got a used Xiaomi X15 Ultra and while I can manage to surf the web and make calls with my camera I now realise there's more to taking decent pictures than just getting a phone with a one inch chip in it...
Currently finding that by the time I'm ready to "click" the subject has long gone and while I can zoom into something a long way off it's difficult to hold the image without a steadying tree wall or I guess tripod.

A DSLR will undoubtably get better photos at a higher resolution (RAW) but who carries one with them all the time (apart from a professional) . I've seen some fantastic phone shots which were taken because it was just the right moment & a lightening fast draw out of the pocket & bingo. That reminds me I should get my camera out of the drawer, although I hate lugging stuff around & tend to travel light.

This was taken with my IPhone 15 pro, it’s a moth not a scary monster.
I am not a photographer I just like photography. I used to have a Nikon with all the lenses but got fed up with lugging it all around and then if you see something and want a different lense by the time you have changed lenses it’s gone. I always have my phone with me so it’s easy now.

The Xiaomi records RAW data but I haven't got a clue about editing that which I think is the idea.
You can delete telephone poles sticking out of heads etc. on the phone itself but what I'm trying to do is capture those magic shots in normal everyday life, the ones that just "pop" rather than look flat and lifeless.

Hello,

Little into. Tim here I am a publish Action sports photographer that also loves shooting vehicles . Did have an instagram until it’s been hacked and deleted so setting up a website / blog and offering some shooting of people’s vans / car projects.

Not sure this is the right place but thought would start the discussion.

Some eye candy of my photo work…
