P20EE, P204F Fault Codes - Main dealer, Warranty, - SHOCKING !!!

UPDATE:

so after last visit to the dealership they found the adblue injector was out of calibration despite being tested on each previous visit so at least four times.

From what I can gather not by very much <5% however enough for the warranty to finally kick in and get it replaced. At this point they were still suggesting stripping the engine to look for other issues at my expense! ... so perhaps a bit of a relief although I was not very optimistic.

Next stage I am sure will be an adblue delete and re-map as the system seem too temperamental and perhaps overly sensitive

I had a pending error logged during the trip home. After a couple of weeks I cleared the errors but they almost immediately came back HOWEVER there has not been any confirmed error or activation of the EML since so without counting too many chickens I am hoping I have a result.

After a few decent runs the pending errors have now gone so assume these only stay "pending" for a given time period or so many stop/start journeys?
Hi @Hilly64, how has it been since your last post here in May 2024?

Got no where with customer care they only seem determined to close the case to satisfy their kpis
Going in to dealer in august for major service and they will run more test plans then.
Not sure how they can be anything new given how long been going on.

Does that mean you still have P20EE?

I had a P20EE fault and would come on after every long journey but I deleted it and no countdown etc…..maybe because I did t let it confirm. Strangely it hasn’t returned in the past few months. But I monitored Nox levels at the senir and i believe its got an issue albeit no fault code. It reads over 1000ppm under load which is way too high. And regens more often. So damn expend e to replace tho and the stories of snapping the senior threads needed new DPF is a worry

Do you monitor the soot levels accumulating in the DPF between regens? What are your soot readings and how many miles do you typically get between regenerations? Also, what are your usual driving conditions?

I reset the trip counter on the dash after each completed regen to help monitor DPF behaviour. I also use an OBD scanner to track soot accumulation under different driving conditions and to see how the system performs regenerations.

Mine is the same. Only after long journey and prolonged cruise. Had every tpi done but they still have repeat. Expect same outcome so warranty expires and will be up my shirt at which point i will be visiting @Dav-Tec

LATEST UPDATE

So as agreed with VW Customer Don’t Care I have again taken van to dealership in conjunction with main service.

Codes were deleted in June and returned late July. So van goes in with EML on and new codes present (same as previous codes)
They again ran the VW TPI (seems very similar to the last few but they say they have been updated), again found no issues, reset codes and cancelled EML, took for 100 mile test drive, re-tested no codes……there you go sir now fixed WTAF, not fixed anything, couldn’t find fault under TPI so just cancelled EML until next time

Definition of madness = repeating the same thing and expecting a different outcome … springs to mind

Now back to customer care who only ever seem interested in closing a case at the first opportunity presumably to make their KPI’s look good
This has been going on nearly 2 years, at least 6 incidences with evidence and as previously mentioned is only activated on a run and not every long run so doubt it will ever show up in a workshop scenario. Read a previous post from a guy in Holland who suggested his van didn’t like sitting at 2000rpm in cruise and that this somehow resulted in one of the sensors not getting hot enough to clean? This seems to be my scenario

What they cannot swerve is that there is a fault and is evidenced, they just can’t or wont find a solution which may cost a little money which is why I have warranty which is gradually running down for the last time. Cheaky tw*t even suggested I get it coded out which is bound to affect any re-sale value as does selling the van knowing there is a fault

I am from an engineering background and in my world at this stage I would simply replace the key SCR components. Can only be pump/tank, injector and a few sensors. Who’s to say the pump doesn’t break down with extended use or temperatures which they dont replicate as part of the test. That would at least take these components out of the equation

Any advice on how I can take control of the situation and force their hand. If I was to threaten or go down the small claims route for costs to get the work done at an independent and claim for my loss and expense I am not sure who I would be taking issue with:

The dealership - being fair they have to abide by VW TPIs
VW FS - the warranty company but again until the dealer identifies the faulty part they won’t act
VW UK - not sure if I have a contract or course of redress? How do you even contact them?

I am at a bit of a loss as to my next steps
