Newbie Question - Fuel Economy

Hi all. I recently bought an ex demo t6 204 dsg combi Loads of kit electric doors 20” rims side bars leather etc etc. I’ve taken the rear seats out and converted it to a van as ironically for the spec I wanted it was cheaper to do this. Love the van so much better than my M Sport transit but I’m wondering what’s going on with fuel economy. Most of the time it’s just round town and I’ve just reset the trip on the last fill up and I’m getting 235 miles before the light comes on. It is fully loaded with racking and tools but this seems pretty poor. Any one with any data or thoughts ?

Most of us are disappointed with our mpg... especially on short runs, loaded

20" tyres won't help but make sure the tyre pressure is right, wrong tyre pressure will increase rolling resistance

I also try and keep the air con for when it's really needed.. as I believe this can use up fuel...

quite a few others tips and tricks if you search on here to get a bit more mpg...

I would of thought you should get high 20's / low 30's around town... But I'm unsure with a loaded van...

Seems a bit low compared to the information shared in dellmassive's link above.... I would be looking at all aspects of why the fuel economy is lower than expected and seeing where it can be improved...

So many variables, but start with the obvious ones as mentioned.... Once you've checked the obvious ones and taken it on a good run and worked out mpg over a full tank or two... there is always the option of an economy re-map.

Yeah that’s what I thought. Tyres are all pumped up. I do have the coasting off and normally turn the stop start off and it’s pretty heavily loaded but I actually got better from my M Sport which ironically I thought was pretty poor.

I've also read that people see an improvement once the engine loosens up after 10K miles..

Try removing the lead sole off your right shoe...
