New inlet manifold needed ????

Been told that the van needs a new inlet manifold as the flaps on the old one keep sticking, And that VW have update the manifold due to this problem.
2016 150bhp CXFA engine 34500 miles. I am told that the early engines suffer from this problem. Has any one else had this problem or know of the problem ??

Not heard of it before on a T6, but it's happened on my E Class Merc (3.0 litre diesel) at around 140k. New pair of heads - not cheap! I think it's quite common on diesel engines - I was shown two other sets of heads from V6 Mercs whilst mine was being done.

not a common problem on the T5/T6 AFAIK,

done the same job on my old BMW 330d, removed the inlet runner, fit blanking plugs. worst case scenario on that engine was that it could ingest the swirl flaps and go bang !!

keep us posted with your progress . . . .

I have spoken to TPS today and asked about any updated inlet manifold and part number, very friendly and I can buy the part from them, but can not give me the part number or any info on updated parts so as to stop me buying with some one else.
Have looked on some sites for part number but no luck so far.

Sorry bit pushed for time today but heres the basics (not sure which engine is which ? think the second picture and second price is yours ?)

Thanks for the quick reply Pauly.
I think you are right about the second one as this is the price TPs has given me.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

you can see the swirl flaps in this pic:

each cylinder has a main square inlet and the swirl inlet (round)

the swirl flaps are all connected to a common shaft that is controlled by the vacuum unit at the end of the shaft.

I have a 150 2016 dsg and when I first got my van second owner it had around 90k miles on it , it did once bring a code up for inlet flap Jamed bit I reset and and used forte fuel cleaner and turbo cleaning and touch wood it's never came back ,that was over a year ago , can it not be cleaned ?

OK UPDATE. I now have some info from the garage
" TPI ( Technical Product Information ) from VW Bulletin 2042325/8 relating to induction flap jamming at certain temperatures " Requires inlet manifold.
Has anyone access to TPI so I can read this bulletin.

I can access them at a cost, have a fish around and see what you can find and if you get stuck come back to me and will see what I can do
