Everythings going wrong! EGR pipes and sticking inlet manfold flap valves link?

I’ve had a separator pot on the crankcase vent of my 22 year old A4 1.9TDI (210K miles) for a few years after it ran away on some sludge carry over in the induction.
I assumed that there was excessive oil carry over due to some wear and tear on the bores / rings.
Recently I decided to change the PCV diaphragm as a simple check to be sure that it wasn’t the cause, on the AJM it turned out that it’s integral to the cover so I fitted a secondhand Polish sourced cover, no idea how old, came off a Passat.
Roughly 1000 miles later and there is no visible oil level reduction on the dip stick and the separator pot is dry. Previously it would have consumed about 0.6L over 1000 miles.
In hindsight I’d say suspect the PCV if you have excessive oil carry over, it’s a simple fix in most cases.
