new electrics install

ok, so now I'm at the point of doing my electrics install. I'm planning on putting in a leisure battery and a Planar diesel heater. I'll want to run the fridge, a few 12v sockets, a few USB sockets and connecting the heater. I will also put in a mains hook up and a few 24v sockets. My questions to the learned gentleman and ladies are as follows:

1: Can I do it all for under £250? not including the cost of the heater (I'll do the install by m'self)
2: Do I need a Smart thingywossit battery relay box......?
3: Is it really hard or what? I have a City&Guilds in Telecoms/Electrixity Installation and Repair from a Bygone Era so I finks I can does it.......:slow rofl:

Thanks a bunch peeps!

1) no the split charge will cost almost that alone.
2) yes if you want to charge the leisure battery from the van
3) it’s not too hard to do. Most kits have detailed instructions. That said if you are unsure then it may be better to get someone to do it for you.

Thanks! That my kind of answer! Wher can i find a decent kit?

Travelvolts above does very good kits, I have used him in the past for my T5 and have had stuff off him for my T6.

Be aware his website is plus vat and plus postage on the prices though.

eBay is also very good for kits if you know exactly what you want.

Finally 12v planet also have decent reviews online.

@travelvolts is keenly priced overall. The major win for me is the products are right for the job and Martyn provides experienced advise and support. He's only an email or phone call away, which is priceless.

Thanks for the information.
I can see the need for DC-DC and like the concept.
Where does the mains charger fit in when on hook-up?

The Victron chargers can also act as power supply. So, when the van is connected to mains hook up the charger will respond automatically to the demands. It can also be controlled manually to "recondition" the battery should it have had a hammering.

Mate thats all gibberish to me can you explain what all this acually does , im gathering leisure battery, mains hook up, 2 usbs,1 socket, 1 fuse box, and wires? What are the rest?

The rest is the kit that charges the leisure battery from the alternator, and a smart charger for charging/power supply when connected to mains hook up.

To avoid having to remove and charge the leisure battery every time it runs flat you need to be able to charge it in the van. The battery to battery charger charges it when you drive and the other charger charges it when you are hooked up to mains. I also got all my kit from travelvolts, highly recommended
