Yeah, they really don't look right! When you swap them over to t'other side make sure to but some sealant around the feet to prevent water ingress which is a known side effect of fitting roof rails.
Vw feet are proper rubbish though

And me brains telling me they should bow inwards (sorry for bad explanation)

I think it could be a great way to carry a wide load on the roof.To be fair mate,you knew deep down that they were wrong anyway
