My Reflex Silver Project

The other day on the morning commute, the van felt really sluggish uphill. No eml showing, so carried on. The next day, eml came on so I plugged it in.

Began googling, thinking it was the maf sensor. My mates a mechanic and came round to do a smoke test on it from the intake pipe on air filter. Immediately seen smoke coming from inside the bumper......failed intercooler!

So, bumper off

Found this, top has split at the back, twisting the whole intercooler forward.

My friends fitting this tomorrow with a full service, as we're off down Dorset Thursday for a long bank holiday.

Slowly fixing the things that have been bugging ne. Potentially looking to sell the van before next season, but I know this may be the wrong time to sell. We've still got one get away in October, but things to complete are as follows

Full Detail (inc ceramic coat)
New front splitter
Respray spoiler
Fit new non drl grills

And today's task, a new door hinge.....what a b**tard of a job!

Things I've learned from a door hinge change

1) if it breaks, leave it broken
2) doors are heavy (even when on a jack
3) VW hate everyone who buys their vans
4) mother nature is a b*tch!

Little Update

Back in January, I treated the van to some THQ T6.1 style LED rear lights in smoke red colour.

As the months went on, i began to hate them more and more. In my opinion, the van was starting to look a bit chavvy and cheap - not what I was aiming for.

So last week, i sold the lights to my bro in law, and had his oem lights in exchange to use until my new lights arrived

A few days later, a knock at the door from Mr DPD 😃

I went for the same lights, but this time unsmoked....so much better in my opinion.

So after a wash, the van went from this

It didn't look that chavvy! Same as mine now!

Looks much better. I’m a fan of OE +. As a fellow reflex silver owner, where are these from? Ta
They're from Transporter HQ. I swore to myself earlier this year i'd stop using them, because the owner is a knobhead....but, i wanted them 🤣

Had a nightmare today.

Yesterday, I noticed the back left wheel had lost pressure. Pumped it up and left it overnight.

Came out this morning, flat as a pancake again.

Took it to a tyre fitter and he found the following 😬

Wheel cracked, and tyre absolutely ruined!

I can only place this as happening a few weeks ago near work. A country lane, with tractor coming the other way, forcing me into the gutter.

The tyre, believe it or not was brand new back in september for the mot. The tyre fitter believes that the wheel cracking and caused the tyre to distort and strip it of it's thread.

Next week i'm on the hunt for new wheels and tyres
