Major service

Hi All
I booked my van in for a major service and was told that my van had an injector issue when they stated the van from cold.
I told them that no2 glow plug is not at its best as Vw could not get that glow plug out. so told me that it was best to leave it in till it became a issue which when cold it runs a little lumpy.
How ever the garage would not carry the service out as they were adamant it needs an injector which I said I don’t think it does as when it gets warm it runs fine.
So can you from cold tell if an engine has an injector problem ?
Also in vcds how do I check the injectors as attached picture is all I could get from vcds
Thank you

Just take it elsewhere. Its not their job to hold you hostage until you agree to do the jobs they fancy doing - its their job to bloody well do a service as theyre told.

Did they say how they diagnosed what they think is a faulty injector?

If all they’re going on is a slightly rough idle at cold - and not doing any other tests/scans then I’d go elsewhere personally. I want my mechanics to mechanic - not moonlight as psychics.

Try another garage, looks like they are punting for extra work. If next garage states the same thing you may have to rethink it all.🙏

Not directly, but possibly by looking into engine data.
Please share VCDS Auto-Scan as it shows what engine it is as well as mileage, model year, etc.

To start perhaps you could make same logs as in below.

1 - Lumpy engine start and idle

2a - Lumpy engine start and idle
2b - Lumpy engine start and idle

3a - Lumpy engine start and idle
3b - Lumpy engine start and idle

Thank you all for the replies as I thought it was off when said it’s lumpy on idle which means injector.
No scan or anything as said we just started it to take it in shop and it’s got an injector issue so before we can do the service this has to be done first and if you don’t want it looking at we cannot do service. So hence the question on here if you can tell when cold.
The motor is a cxeb engine 204bhp with 88500 miles

Will have another look at it next weekend as it runs fine when at temp just doesn’t like been cold . Ps 2017 sportline bi turbo swb
