Leisure battery grounding

Hi Joey
Have you had a look at Lees post?

Thanks for the link but believe me when I say I’ve read everyone of his posts 😂

It’s not that I don’t know what to do in either case, I’ve just no idea how to identify the ignition live wire, what colour it is, where it should be if I have it. I’ve also looked at all those wiring diagrams, but they make little sense to me 😩

An 645 relais is used for many purposes according a component webshop. This includes rear window heating, air-suspension compressor and headlight cleaning pump. Maybe this give some guidance.

Ok, so can confirm it's the heated rear screen. Thanks @Deaky for the info.

I tried piggybacking the remote to the 12v socket fuse under the passenger seat (that would've been nice) but it stays on even with keys out and van locked!

Guess there's no shortcuts, will have to run a remote from drivers dash fusebox as others have 😞

So with the help of the below thread and you guys I finally managed to get it working 🥳

An interesting side note in my ventures... The rear window heater relay is always on 12v, the control button however only operates with the engine started. Has anyone ever tried to get an engine running signal off the dash button and hence avoid the bcu rigmarole?

I need to run a 95mm cable to ground. Has anyone grounded something that big somewhere in the rear quarter?

From memory there are earth points inside the rear quarters where the rear lights and other stuff go to .

Make a new chassis ground.

Use a m8 or n10 terminal lug.

Then drill a new hole in the rear inner frame, remove paint both sides.

Then just nylock nut, bolt and washers.... To bolt the cable to the chairs....

I don't mine with twin 75mm2.

.

For 95mm cable could I use the old rear seatbelt hole? Would that make a good ground if it was taken back to the metal? It’s a perfect location for my build.

Don't see why not.... You need a clean metal to metal connection.

95mm2 is well beefcake, so you will need the correct lug for the cable with the correct hole size....

More importantly is the crimp is 100% proper.
