Leisure battery fitted…… loads of faults!

This has all gone a bit Pete Tong!

Fitted a leisure battery and a ctek under the drivers seat and the install all went ok…. Until I started the engine for the first time. I made sure I plugged the seat airbag back in before starting the engine as I hear this can cause faults.

First one was “front assist unavailable”. Ok, I’m parked in a garage so maybe the sensor on the front is not happy. No big worries.

Then “error start stop”. The install has taken me a while so maybe the battery is a bit low…..

Pulled out of the garage and let the engine run for a bit, turned it off and then back on…. Same faults still there. Getting a smidge worried at this point.

Plugged Carista in and BOOOM loads of faults! Reset some but others keep coming back.

I’ve disconnected the ctek and tried again with no better results.

Anyone got any advise of where to start looking please?

If you have a battery charger, I would charge the starter battery overnight, then try again in the morning.

When putting one of these things on charge, do I go on the + and - directly on the battery?

Love it Pete tong haven’t heard that in ages:slow rofl:
Best of luck with fault codes tho hope it sorts it’s self out

I’ve put it on charge. Fingers crossed it’s a bit happier by tomorrow. I’ve pulled all the seats out again in a fit of blind confusion so I can’t really take it for drive. I did think about giving it a good run before I posted but was worried it would go into limp mode or something.

If it’s a 6.1 it will need to be driven after a battery disconnect to clear some of the faults, only needs a few seconds of forward motion to reset the steering angle sensor

As above , on a T6.1 take it for a few drive cycles to recalibrate some of the sensors.

Left it on charge all night and the charger only got up to it’s 2nd phase (see attached) it is only a little charger so maybe that’s a normal amount of progress over night?

Put a meter across the stater battery and it said 12.4v.

Plugged the Carista in and it said 12.0v

Still got all the same faults.

Took it for a 5 min drive and no change.

Put the meter across the starter battery while it’s running and it says 13.4.

I’ve got a BM2 on the leisure battery and that was sitting at just under 13v before I started the engine. Started the engine and it’s telling me the leisure battery is getting 15v! See attached.

Is this correct?? Image of battery attached.

One thing I did do yesterday was to connect the little red wire from the Ctek to a permanent live rather than an ignition live….. again the BM2 said the leisure battery was getting nearly 15v and the engine wasn’t even running. I assumed it was sorting itself out and left it for ten minutes. Looking back, I don’t suppose the starter battery enjoyed having 15v taken when the engine wasn’t even running!

Just going to take it for a bit longer drive but I’m worried it will conc out somewhere massively inconvenient…

It's also charging the starter battery and the leisure battery by the sound of it.

ISSUE RESOLVED! Gave it a couple of good runs, disconnected and reconnected the battery, took a load of fuses out and put them back in and……. BOOM. ALL FAULTS GONE! I’m fairly sure, but not certain, that I may have had a fuse or 6 in the wrong places….

Advice to anyone else taking this on:

Take a load of pictures of where everything is before you start taking things apart.
Thanks for the replies above.
