Keep OEM rubber load floor or remove and ply line/insulate/sound deaden/carpet floor??

Hi! I'm in the process of sound deadening, insulating and carpeting my T6. We are using a 'reputable' conversion specialist and they have advised me to keep the OEM spongy rubber floor in the rear without bothering to add any insulation or sound deadening underneath as it does an ok job as it is and isn't worth the extra money. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on whether its worth asking/paying to add a 2mm silent coat underneath the OEM rubber floor? Or to get rid of the OEM rubber (soft and spongy nice feel) and ply line/carpet the floor with added insulation/sound deadening underneath? I'm just a bit concerned on the amount of effect (if any) it would have on the desired 'keeps van cool in summer. warm in winter' ? We will be using it to sleep in as a multipurpose conversion!

I've put sound deadening under the rubber mat. Works fine but I havent tried the alternative. I'd do it again if the van came with the rubber floor, but wouldnt add one if it wasnt there. We get a very small amount of isolated condensation form sometimes on the mat in cold conditions, but nothing too concerning. I feel I have to be more careful than a Altro floor, sharp objects can damage it. I suppose another advantge is the build up is less so marginallymore space inside

All depends what are you looking to achieve/what is your end goal?
If you are looking into soundproofing your van/get rid of the road noise, I recommend using mass loaded rubber mat/barrier for the flooring, as it will work as a wall, blocking the background noise coming into your vehicle. If you would like to insulate it as well, you can add a closed cell foam as your second layer. Some of the van insulation companies have the product which combines both of mentioned products in one piece. As I said, it is all depends what are you looking for to achieve.

I don't think I'm going to be overly concerned with completely silencing the van and am comfortable with sound deadening around the wheel arches but not much elsewhere and relying on the insulation and carpet to add a bit more silencing properties (compared to no insulation or sounded deadening currently!). I have just been advised that the OEM rubber mat will offer enough sound deadening AND insulation for the floor and what I am asking is for people's opinions on that opinion. My goal is that when we use the van to camp (particularly in hot weather and hot countries) we get the desired effect of keeping us cool in the summer and keeping the heat in on the cold nights in the uk camping in spring and autumn. Does that make sense? And does anybody have any advice on this and whether we should in fact instruct the conversion company we are using to install additional insulation under the OEM rubber floor? OR whether they are probably correct and the rubber floor will offer enough insulation and any additional is probably wasting money?

Thanks!

I removed the OEM rubber mat. I considered keeping it in, but once up i realised it held a huge amount of moisture. There were spots of corrosion under the mat which I dealt with before floor went down.

I didn't insulate under the floor. 12mm ply floor and vinyl I think is enough. I spent loads of money on insulation for the rest of the van, and now we keep the windows open because it's too warm! Probably wouldn't go as mad with insulation if I converted again.

Put 2mm sound deadening under the factory mat, which in itself it a great sound deadener.
