Inlet manifold removal

There’s actually a tool in the workshop manual to loosen that one bolt. Weird U shaped spanner thing, but I think you can still get to the bolt with an ordinary spline bit and socket and extension. Gonna remove mine next weekend. I found an online only free access workshop manual that shows you the steps to remove the manifold
Hi would you be able to share / send me the link please - I have to tackle this job this weekend once I found a replacement manifold. Thank you in advance.

I had mine replaced successfully for very good price.
The manifold is VW and cost £400 ish.
My mechanic removed high pressure pump to gain access.

Cheers
Alan.

Was this a main dealer, thinking of doing it myself, I had one fitted about 5 years ago by VW York under warranty but I think it has clogged up again, it looks a bit of a bad job so swaying towards taking it back to vw york to get another one fitted, not ideal but I suppose that is just how they are

Looking at some of the posts regarding inlet manifold removal it does look like a bad job, just wondering if anyone has pulled the bumper off and taken all the rads out and then it looks like you will be straight at it, but what sort of job is it to pull all the front end off 🤦

VW commercial approved workshop. I had an intermittent start up fault from the van being 3mths old (it’s a 2018).
This dragged on through lockdown etc and this was the only place that got to the bottom of the problem and resolved it so I’ve stuck with them since.

The jobs probably above my pay grade mechanically to be honest, my days of crawling around under a van into the night doing my own repairs are hopefully over 🤞🏻
I happily tinker with my motorcycle but swerve the heavy stuff now.

OK so I've refitted mine it's not as bad a job as it sounds its more fiddly van doesn't need to be off the ground although I had mine halfway up a set of ramps to save my back. You don't need the fuel pump off its doable with it on. The hardest part is getting the bolt behind the fuel pump in and out the rest is a doddle.

Did you take the bumper and radiators out to gain access, mine is a 67 plate 150 .many thanks

This is probably my next job on the van, I’m planning to take the bumper and rad pack off as I’m going to be removing and cleaning /replacing the EGR valve, cooler and pipes while I’m in there.

I need to make sure it closes before it’s mapped shut.

Is there any noticeable difference in how the van feels & drives? MPG improved?

Easy to take all of that off with the rad in place m8 not had the chance to find out with the mpg as the new turbo failed it dropped a shaft nut so back to square 1

Hi all
I replaced my inlet manifold last month and it wasn't a great job tbh. Anyway managed to do it and it is now blanked off and egr mapped out. It got blanked off after the egr, between the egr and inlet manifold so no more shit can enter the inlet manifold and cause any issues. So mpg not really noticed any difference, the only issue I see is the amount of adblue it is using!! Done 700 miles and nearly used half a tank which I normally get about 4000 miles, now the only issue is it went into vw in October for a service and they did some updates on it so I don't know whether it is from the software update or blanking and mapping out egr?? Has anyone else had this issue

Ooooo…!
Surely that should be covered under warranty if it’s a new turbo?!

I’ve read differing opinions on whether or not to remove the front end or do it from above.
I’d like to have a look into the ports to see if they need cleaning out while I’m in there
