Good morning all.

Im after some gas struts for a hilo roof as they have failed.

I cant find ay details online and obviously hilo are no more...

Could anyone help PLEASE :)

Hi All, one of my struts on my HiLo is starting to behave a bit dodgy. Does anyone know the part number from sgs or can anyone suggest and alternative supplier? How much do they cost roughly?
Cheers

VisionTech Automotive produce the Horizon roof which is, essentially, a HiLo with a different name.

Contact simply surf bus. Vision tech didn't even reply to my enquiry. Think I paid about £60 for two. Change the pair.

Hi to all in the group.

My first question is:

1. Did you manage to source a replacement

2. One of mine I think has just gone (it will only open half way on one side, as soon as I released the strut from the roof via the locking pin the whole thing dropped as it would not move up or down previously) and I noticed that the manufacturer of the hilo strut is a company called Metrol. I have emailed them so will hopefully hear back soon.

3. Were they easy to fit if you did source new ones and were yours covered under the warranty.

I wasnt so lucky with the warranty in that mine failed 2 years after fitment. In that time HiLo and my installer vanished so the 5 year warranty (one of the reasons we chose this roof) is dud.

Hard work on you own. See my post with how I managed it.

Hi all
I need to find the make and model for gas struts for the HiLo Sport roof on a LWB T6.
Have tried Hirizon Roofs and VisionTech, but they are simply not replying to my emails. I've called twice and been told that it's an easy change from my failed electric rams to manual gas struts, but they haven't followed up with any info for three weeks so far.
What would be helpful, is if anyone with the same roof, could look on their gas struts for make and model number, I could maybe purchase directly and get my van usable for camping again.

@Jagman723 I’ve moved your post to this existing thread as it contains a few different options -

These members have electric HiLo roofs so may be name to offer photos / details if you do want to keep it electric -
My electric Hilo was fitted by VisionTech, no leaks. Had a problem with the seal to the top but VTA sorted it without fuss.

Hi everyone, I said hello the other day and here's pics of my new to me van 18 plate T32 LWB and still can't believe the milage one owner from new 10700 miles

Forgot to mention its also got the HiLo Electric assisted pop top and rock & roll electric bed and both work beautifully, cant wait to get out and about in her.

If you want to change back to gas rams you’ll need to relocate the upper brackets to their original place. You should see the empty rivnuts. You can buy the gas rams from my link earlier in the thread.

Visiontech who took over the hilo design are a waste of time IMHO.
