T6 Tailgate Strut Length

Hi all. hoping you can help did a tailgate conversion on our T6 however the gas struts we bought are too short and too heavy to close, they are 710mm can anyone direct us to the correct ones we need? We dont need 1250N as we dont have a bike rack so 900N would do. We have seen somewhere on this forum about 780mm struts on the cali but we cant seem to find them as all come up 710mm, hoping you can help!! Cheers

Looks like 711mm is the standard length. Are your brackets fitted the right way up?

I actually thought maybe I had but I double checked . Yes they’re on correct .

With my tailgate conversion I had to use T5 struts which are slightly longer.

I have the same problem. Converting from barn doors to a tailgate and the struts are short. Did you manage to resolve the problem?

We used T5 struts and this kit which works perfectly:

yes sorted now , bought these from eBay 2X VW T5 TRANSPORTER V MULTIVAN 03-15 TAILGATE BOOT GAS STRUTS 970N 7H0827550 and they’re perfect . Not too heavy for the wife to close the tailgate
