Help Needed AdBlue (DEF) issue

Please advise if you can. I hit the road early yesterday(Saturday) heading for Spain. 680 miles in halfway dow France the AddBlue dropped from 4000 miles to 650, telling me I have 650 miles before the engine wont't start.

I pulled off the motorway and found a campsite, van's converted to a camper to see what I can sort out.

I have read that this can sometimes reset it's self? Is it ok to keep driving or do i have to find a dealer. My van is a 2107 150 with 42K on the clock!

Need a software update, but might sort itself out, did you fill to the indicted maximum, or did you brim it?

No, followed the the amount which was 1.5 gallon, so 6.8ltrs… I’m hoping to find a VW dealer in the morning… hope they sort it… or I risk it and keep heading for Spain

Update… tried to get into the local VW dealership who wouldn’t look at it.. so had to go 100k to another dealership. Half way there, after ragging it on the toll road the warning goes off and AdBlue rehang back up to 5000 miles… so currently sat on a campsite in Spain feeling on top of the world…

How does one go about getting a software update? I think I have the same problem with my van (intermittent adblue fault), but when I called VW to ask if they could update the adblue system software when I bring the van in for a service they said they'd only update if it was part of a recall and there weren't any outstanding on my van. They said they could do a diagnostic which would be £180 straight away, no thanks...

Is it only VW who can do updates through ODIS? or can reputable tuners do them as well? I was thinking of getting a remap anyway so could be done at the same time?

Sorry to hijack Kev63 - glad yours is ok again!

They will only do the update if you are having problems. That’s what 2 dealers have told me.

Sorry to jump on your thread, I'm having some issues with EML and P20EE every 1k miles or so, Got Carista coming today so I'm going to see if it tells me the software I'm running as I recently booked it in for a DSG oil change at VW for the 1st December and they said it had a shed load of recalls overdue (its never seen a VW dealer in its 6 years on the planet apparently, service history shows local and company stamps). Its also going for a service at a VW specialist on Friday so going to leave the EML on and ask them to scan it but I'm hoping in a way its the software that was never done on it and that is part of the recalls (its a 2016 150) if not i might ask for it even though that will wipe my map.
