Headunit Resetting On Auto Stop - Normal?

Hi guys,

The T6 I purchased a month ago came with a Pioneer AVIC-F980DAB which is pretty decent, and has everything I generally need. I have however noticed one annoying niggle with it, relating to the van's auto-turn off feature.

Every time the van's engine turns off automatically whilst stationary, the unit carries on working, but as soon as you put the van back into gear and the engine turns itself back on, the unit resets, and has to boot up again. When you're doing things like following satnav in town where you don't know the area, or even listening to Spotify via Apple CarPlay, it causes an outage on the display for anywhere between 10-30 seconds. It's pretty annoying.

I have driven a different T6 kombi with VWs own headunit, and that doesn't seem to suffer from the same problem - the headunit stays on regardless.

Is this likely to be a problem with the way it's been wired up, or is this just a known "thing" and one has to suck it up and live with it?

Pioneers seem to suffer from this where Kenwoods and alpine don’t...it’s where the voltage drops to much for the Pioneer so it reboots

The easiest way to fix this is by using a voltage stabiliser. This wires onto the power wires

We can supply this and go through the installation with you

This issue is mentioned in the OEM manual about the stock radio reseting under a restart......

It states that the issue identifies a fault with the factory DC-DC stabilizer....

As the stabilizer should keep a healthy voltage at the radio terminals...

So providing your radio is connected to the correct perm/ign/ground wires. The suggestion above from @Absolut5 will help.....

Ie .. a second local dc-dc stabilizer.
