Headlight upgrade options

Hi All, Just recently bought a 2019 plate Caravelle which the headlights are shocking on. Thinking of an upgrade all round - what are the best retro fits out there...? Pref with sequential indicators...

Cheers in Advance.

Hi, as @Deaky has said, this is one of those subjects that have been talked about endlessly!

1. If you want sequential indicators have a look at the THQ (transporter HQ) V2 headlights. They are sequential indicator and use H7 and H1 bulbs. There is a V3 coming soon too. The best lighting performance using these seems to come from fitting HIDs to the H7 dipped beam, but that isn't strictly speaking legal, so it depends on your take on things. Have a look through this thread: THQ Aftermarket headlights and towards the end you'll find the recommended HID lamps. This is going to cost you about £500 - £550 all in. I have the V2 lights, but running Philips LED bulbs (also not strictly speaking legal) in dipped instead of HID, they are pretty good with that setup.

2. For best overall performance (but no sequential indicator) Retrofit OEM full LED headlights. This is what I am doing very soon, I'm just waiting for the last piece of the puzzle to turn up. Have a look at this thread: LED Headlight Retrofit This is costing me £1150 all in using used parts and a bespoke loom. You can also pay retrofit companies anywhere from £2.5k upwards to do this for you using all brand new parts.

3. Another alternative is to speak to someone who can fit Bi-LED projectors to your existing headlights, this is more involved and will need a specialist to complete. Not sure on cost.

4. Fit crazy overpowered LED bulbs to your standard lights, which will improve performance for you, but blind everyone coming the other way because reflector headlamps don't control the beam pattern as well as projectors. Not something I would recommend, but some on this forum have had success with this.

Cheers,

Chris.

You’ll be fine with the night breakers, they are designed to work with reflector headlamp units so shouldn’t dazzle oncoming traffic. As others have found, they will be an improvement, but perhaps not quite as much as you are hoping.
