Haynes Manuals

Well it's been 5 years since the T6 was released and there's no Haynes workshop manual for it ... so I guess there never will be. I found two German-language ones though, "Reparaturanleitung VW T6 Transporter" and another ""VW T6 Multivan Jetzt helfe ich mir Selbst", both easily available on eBay. But German isn't easy for me, so really I'd prefer an English-language book . Have I missed anything?

I have the T5 Haynes manual - lots of stuff is the same. Two observations of the modern manuals - the paper they are printed on is rubbish (one grade up from bog roll!) and they are dumbed down. Years ago I stripped and rebuilt several classic mini gearboxes whereas now its ‘refer to specialist’. I know there are probably specialist tools to repair modern gearboxes so not a brilliant example, but you get what I mean.

Are these any good?

Thanks, yes I hadn't come across that -- the previews look quite good.

Yes, I know what you mean about the cheap newsprint paper on the newer Haynes manuals -- everyone else uses coated paper for just about everything now, but somehow Haynes has scoured the earth for a supplier of coarse acid-drenched paper towelling. And that the Haynes manuals only scratch the surface of modern vehicle technology, whereas the manufacturer's OEM service documentation often runs to thousands of pages -- but jealously guarded behind dealer service networks.

Wow, fantastic. The mother lode! The OEM manuals -- and free!
This is what these forums are for and if you have the facilities you can download all of it (them).

I'm heading over to the other side so I've done the same for a New Crafter (MAN TGE) which I may have delivered nest summer.

Hello T6 forum people!
I've reached that time of life when I have to buy a campervan and have therefore acquired a 2021 SWB Highline conversion. :)

As an inveterate tinkerer, and self inflicted mechanic, I immediately went to Haynes to pick up a workshop manual, but the registration number entry in the Haynes web-site tells me that there is no manual for that vehicle (yet?).
When I look at the engine code, it says that it is a CXHC - but the only reference I can find is for a CXHA.
Do you know the difference between a CXHC and a CXHA engine?

Will the rest of the mechanics of the van (brakes, suspension, wiring etc) be the same/very similar to an existing model? . . .i.e. will the nearest Haynes manual suffice.
Or, indeed, are there other workshop manuals on the market?

Thank you,
J

I have the T5 haynes manual which seems to cover most things on my T6.0. The forum covers any gaps and more :)

Welcome!

Thanks Paynewright - I'll have a look at it. Do you have the digital version too? I like the idea of a version on my iPad!

I like the paper version for the garage. Some things I just prefer reading from paper. That said, the paper used for the latest Haynes manuals is one step up from bog roll - they don’t make ‘em like they used to. Lots of sections are dumbed down as well (probably due to specialist equipment needed) - I could still strip and rebuild a classic Mini gearbox!

I have the paper Haynes for my T5, and yes, the pictures look like they were taken by Fox-Talbot himself. When the new van arrives I will be using mainly the digital information available to subscribers to this forum, with very clear diagrams.
