H&R Deep Vs Solow Low

Not seen this been discussed much if at all. Im looking at the pros and cons between each and coilover. These seems to be a huge amount of detail on the solows and very little on the H&R Deep kit.

This will largely targeted at a T32 camper so hub mods arnt an option. The Solow LOWS are priced at £1400 and the H&R Deep kit at a little over £2000. To me the H&Rs seem slightly better value with fronts using stainless steel bodies and them having a larger adjust range 40mm to 100mm or 130mm if you opt for the bigger drop version. Solow LOWS being 95mm to 125mm.

Has anyone else had any experience with the H&R Deep, comfortability etc?

The sound of common sense here ha ha

Super low vans and comfort are two topics that dont fit together at all ,

Niether kits are T U V approved ( alarm bells for european travel ) nor can they cope well with camper weight . ( springs arent strong enough , particualarly in the rear )

Looks over function , tough decisions , cant have both really .

We do approx 100 vans a month and most are campers we dont do anything lower than 65 to 75 ,

The Deep cant adjust from 40 to 130 mm i am afraid . Our normal H&R kit cant get to 40 mm and work nice, and that kit is rated 50 to 80 mm with TUV approval

Here's another option (and another level of spend) but similarly I haven't seen a huge amount of information or feedback on these -

Gepfeffert V3 KW Coilover VW Transporter T5 T6 T6.1 T32

I guess everyone's view of what looks good is individual but 70mm lowering on a Transporter never seems to look quite enough to me, another 20-30mm and they look so much better not withstanding any other compromises which may come with that.

Agree with this 80mm is the sweet spot, im currently running the eibach pro street s which claim to go to 65mm but it just isn't really enough. That said coupled with 45 profile tyres it is really comfortable.

That kit is the most expensive kit there is for a transporter , its cost comes from the Stainless steel construction , as well as 3 way adjustability . It can only lower 35 to 65 mm so not a contender for super low vans

We can do the equivalent to a hub mod on a T32 . with our Ultimate kit

The look is very dependant on the tyre and wheel package . filling the arch with tyres will get a better ride result than lowering the van extremely low to get a look with thin shallow tyres that disappear into the wheel arch ,

It states that it offers a lowering range 80-140mm?

Is this a slightly different variant?

It's stated on the Still Static site (via that link) but also throughout Gepfeffert's own publications and videos. It looks like a derivative of the original KW V3 and Gepfeffert look as though they have other versions too.

The shocks in that picture are the same as the shocks in the 35 to 65 mm kit , The springs are different however. shorter and harder i would guess ?

The lowering range of any coil over is usually 30 mm ( IE 40 to 70 , 50 to 80 , 35 to 65, and so on ) , so when companies claim more than 30 mm range ears p***k up

at 140 mm, the shock will be completely bottomed out on to the bump stop , so is is worth spending £3k to have a really crappy ride ??

I see. With your Hub bracket mod what is the lowest you can take a T32 albeit knowing that there may be some compromise in ride?

From my understanding of this T32 hub mod you need to purchase the front coilovers for a T30 which seems a little hardwork to me and them purchase the hubmod in addition.

In my view it'd be less work to just replace the whole kit with somthing that goes lower.

Done properly 100 mm and doesnt affect the ride because the travel is untouched . Lowering a suspension too far looses travel and they ride poorly , the way we do it there is no loss of travel

That sounds ideal, do you have any pictures of this setup, would be great to see how it sits?
