[GUIDE] How to retrofit armrests to a front single seat

Copper pipe to heat cut/seal the hole is genius! I thought I was going to have to get my sewing kit out!

£190 for 2 armrests. That is pretty steep!

Go ahead and ask the dealer what they can offer. Found out 1 new armrest costs more than 2 used but pristine with brackets. o_O

Newbie question. I imagine the T6 ones fit on a T6.1, or is that a daft idea? I went to Cali Campers and their ebay shop but cant find any. Anyone know of any Genuine armrests that can be bought for T6 or 6.1?

Just looking through my pics and I think I have enough for a mini-guide...

Firstly, if you have armrests on your driver's seat (or passenger seat) it's because the seat came out of the factory with the "armrest prep" on the seat back frame. It's a welded on plate with the stalk onto which the armrest mounts: (N.B. pictured is a T5 seat, but principally the same)

If it didn't it will look like this: (pre-2011)

If your seat doesn't have armrests it won't be prepped as the stalks would stick out of the side cover, so you'd know!

You can get aftermarket brackets to retrofit armrests - these are from Cali Campers: (N.B. this is a T5.1 seat, which is the same frame as a T6 seat - check before buying brackets!)

Fitting armrests is easy once you have the prep. See here for fitting and removal: Thread '[GUIDE] Removing armrest covers for cleaning' https://www.t6forum.com/threads/guide-removing-armrest-covers-for-cleaning.28682/
