Getting ready for winter. -- --

anyone got a link or can recommend a windscreen frost cover (the silver foil type) that fits a transporter windscreen, I’ve bought a couple from Aldi recently but a bit small so use them on the car

You could make your own to suite your own particular needs from silver bubble wrap. From a large home store B+Q sort of place or on line. You could add ties/fixing points mirror covers/ears or just fold some in the door jams. One point on the latter, just make a fold that exits the door jam slightly lower down then the upper fold in and any collected or pooled water then drips on the outside of the vehicle.

looking for a recommendation of a product I can spray into front door handles/locks to help stop the frost jamming them, I’ve treated the rubber seals, but the locks freeze (6.1 2021) it happened again today, opened the passenger door but then couldn’t latch door.
Closed , I don’t want to use anything oily if possible

As long as it is open at both ends it shouldn't be a problem? Assuming the ice has somewhere to expand to. Leave the tap open and pump switched off.

What pump is it? Can it be run dry? You would need to check if it will damage it.

My pump can be run dry, so I open the tap, block the water hose end (so it creates a vacuum) and release. A couple of go's and that's about all the water I can get out without dismantling the pump and pipes.

As we have a hose pipe ban in Yorkshire, I've started my "protective muck shield" early this year, the last wash been late June. The van now has French, Italian, Swiss and English muck on it. The recent rain has scrubbed a tad off unfortunately but I have high hopes for the coming months to build up a solid encasement.

Mine is prepped and ready for winter. Serviced and MOTd, tyres closely checked, bonnet bra fitted.

Undersides, subframe, inner arches, suspension arms, more inaccessible parts of the engine bay, inside the scuttle etc all treated with 2 coats of the Buzzworld lano chassis spray. Insides of side bars also got a dosing (powder coated bars, over 4 years old without a speck of corrosion,)

Strength of washer fluid increased, windscreen de greased and Rain X'd.

Spare jacket and walking boots stashed under the RIB bed.

Water tank still full, gets flushed and changed monthly, but when the first frosts appear ill drain it down and will only refill if I go away.

Im hoping for a cold, hard, winter after the 6 months of interminable mild temperatures and thich drizzle, so I'm prepared.

At the end of September I'll SORN the Volvo, clean the bejesus out of it and roll it into the carcoon. There are a few jobs I want to do over winter so I'll get the parts cleaned, prepped, painted where applicable, and blitz all the jobs in one day (new Jetex exhaust, some new interior trim, strut brace going to be re powder coated, repainted front control arms with poly bushes, some refurbished engine bay trim parts) if we get a day over the second half month winter with a good forecast.

The BYD I couldn't care less. I clean it ever 3 or 4 weeks, that's the end of my interest as we dont own it. Beyond keeping it moderately presentable I couldn't care less.

Sat here in my swim shorts in 30+°C heat 🥵, any talk of being 'winter ready' seems a tad incongruous to me. 🧐😳

Within the spcde of half an hour I've been alternately soaked in a downpour and felt quite toasty sitting in the garden.

But the season is inevitably going one way, and ready now instead of flapping after the event lije I seem too every other bloody year.
