Getting all steering wheel buttons working (aftermarket head unit)

Hello,

Help please.
My van came with the aftermarket head unit in the photo, as well as an updated VW steering wheel. Also shown. All the buttons on the steering wheel work apart from the volume up/down and the station/track fwd/back. The paddles linked to the DSG work fine. Before I start pulling out the head unit is there a methodical way of testing why they do not work, and if I do pull the head unit to look behind is there something specific regarding connectors to identify?

@Absolut5 Please see above recommendation from Deaky. Is it as simple as identifying what Canbus interface isn't there, then buying one from you to be delivered, then plugging in? If so, please let me know what I am looking for when I pull the unit. Many thanks,

If you didn’t have a MFSW before then there is a good chance you do not have the correct CanBus interface or a missing patch lead (lead between CanBus box and headunit)

the only way is pulling out unit and post some clear pics up
