Gas Bottle Storage and Gas Lockers and Regulations

Caveat, the following is purely my opinion & not intended as a critique of other folks’ choices.
We looked at the Wallas when we were speccing our van & decided it wasn’t for us. It’s (to me) a jack of all trades, master of none. The warm up/cool down times & latency aren’t conducive to having a quick brew on the hoof. Mrs Spuds often brews up in the van whilst we’re on the move. The residual heat in the van after using wouldn’t be welcome when touring in 30C+ heat.
The flip side is that as a heater, the output is in the wrong place, I.e. 2/3rds of the way up the van, not ideal for keeping your tootsies warm when winter camping, “ye canna change the laws o’physics Jim”. You need the heat to enter the habitation space as low down as possible.
I like the idea of using a common fuel source, but as we have a gas BBQ, which we do most of our cooking on in fair weather, we’d still need a gas source. We have a fixed Gaslow bottle & the bbq runs off this, via a Bullfinch quick connection.
It’s also very expensive for what it is, and I personally don’t think it does what it does, very well. So not for us.

Agreed, Walas not for everyone and perhaps in hot climbs not ideal, they can be switched on or off but need to run a little while to fire up and down though we never found the Wallas a problem for spreading the heat around the vehicle over many years of use. Heated up small or large amounts of water quickly enough though one does need to start it, if not already going. For some Wallas because they have been designed for use at sea the can be provided with pan restraints to prevent pan slippage and of course gimbles if someone can not park up on the level. Not at all offended if someone could not find use for one, they are what they are I would never install a gas cooker even in the home and if I purchased a van with gas installed the first thing would be to change it to a Wallas. The only reason I have not done something for the Caravelle is that I have so much else going on and life here is very much like camping that I have done little of that resonantly in a vehicle where once it was a very big part of our lives and hardly ever at a campsite except for camping on Sky, 99% off road in very remote places usually well tucked away, the 101FC was probably the best most versatile vehicle that we ever have owned taking us to the most fantastic places and then camping in them without a single sole seen for days at a time except for wild life.
