Garage recommendation - Scotland

+1
Is there a ‘where are you from’ thread on here, I may have missed it.

Would be nice to befriend fellow like minded transporter geeks for when mine goes tits up….
Or this one -

Just back from an 'Interval' service which came up on the dash reminder last week. The VW van centre handily also sent me a video of exactly what they did during the service!
The video is about 120 seconds long, to be fair it doesn't include getting it up on the ramp, and then he looks at the tyres, then peers at the brakes but only on one side.
That will be £84 please!!!!! But it does include a two page print out of crap about stuff.
WTF, didn't attempt to measure the tyres just guessed and had a quick look round then sent the van to a sub contracted MOT station.
Maybe I am just miffed because when I got it home I found it had a parking scrape on the wheel arch that wasn't there when I gave it to them.
Its 2016 so I am well out of warranty and think thats it for me and the main dealer.
Planning to keep the van for years so probably a good time to find an independant who will look after it properly.
Any recommendations for independants in the Highlands?
You'll do no better than Russell's garage at inchmore near Inverness

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know of a VW specialist based in Inverness who could investigate the problem. I have a T6 BITDI campervan. Yellow preheat light began to flash on and off and van went into limp mode. It has now rectified itself so an intermittent fault? Have 36k on the clock and coming up for service in July 2022. Guess we'll have service done at VW Hawco in Inverness but have been told of a good VAG specialist in Inverness that our local garage mechanic would recommend but he cannot remember the chap's name (I know how he feels!!).

Our local garage equipment could only find a fault with turbo 'overboost' that he said was unusual but that VAG equipment and a knowledgeable person could get to the diagnosis of the fault.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks Rob.

Hi... Can anyone please advise me, where I can get servicing and repairs, on my Caravelle, in the west and central Scotland?
I have recently moved to Scotland, I tried 'Lookers', in Glasgow, for my annual service, I won't be going back!
I hoped, there would be a VW Van enthusiast, type garage, repair facility, in the area?
Thank you,
Regards.

Hello Teamfly, apologies for maybe not replying promptly. Have just seen it. Russell's garage; have you any personal experience of this garage? It did appear on the radar when searching the internet. We are down country some 100 miles on NW coast of Scotland opposite Skye. Thank you.

I don't know if the question is still relevant, but I rate Hawco Inverness very highly. I bought my van there, and had it serviced there, plus they have sorted a couple of minor warranty issues. They also railroaded VWCV into paying for a broken spring under the extended warranty plan. I had Hawco fit Sportline springs when I bought the van and VWCV at first said that as they were non original fitment they weren't going to cover it. Kenny the service manager is a top bloke. FWIW, Hawco VW over the road were also very good when we had a Touareg

Hello Captain, thank you for taking the time to respond. Yes it's still a live issue. Have had good experience with MD of Hawco when FW branch messed up. I agree they are good and of course a main dealer for service record stamps. We'll keep the name Kenny in mind. Kind regards.

+1 on either Hawcos or Russell's garage .
Personal experience with both & highly recommended.

Hi , I agree about avoid Lookers. A bit further afield Ingrams in Ayr are VW They do not sell commercials but they service and repair commercial VW.

OK...
Thanks Georgeo, don't mind the distance, it's the workmanship I'm after!

Hamish

Not sure I would recommend Ingrams in Ayr - they did an extended warranty inspection on my T6 and missed that the EGR flexi was split - common issue.

I used these guys for my last service (a couple of months ago) with no issues. Based in Glasgow and they get good feedback from the research I did. They're pretty much on an M8 exit and very close to the City Centre for something to do whilst you wait.

I was originally going to Lookers Ballieston where I bought the van, but despite them emailing me to remind me my service was due, they couldn't fit me in for five weeks!

Hi guys

had the t6 around a year now and first service and mot is due.

would anyone in the EAST KILBRIDE Glasgow area know of any garages that are honest and so t rip us off .

any help appreciated

thanks

Burnside motor Garage Service.
Not far from you. They looked after my T5 and now my T6. Very knowledgeable and they hire specialist with vcds when they can’t manage to find issues. I also like they look after your car, no scratches or unattended surprises when you return to pick up your car.
